From the reviews
Getting a guitar you want is definitely a special thing but one of the most important things to me is also the buying experience. This is the second time I have been to this place and I couldn't say enough how amazing the guys are.
I purchased a Fender Roadworn Vintera II Strat over mail from 'A Sound education' a short while ago. The guitar was listed as being 7 lb 6oz but when I received it, I found the guitar to weigh 7 lb 12.3oz. This may not seem like a big deal to some but to me, it matters.
Cannot speak highly enough about Pat and the gang at A Sound Education. Before, during, and after my purchase (of an awesome Yamaha bass), this team was super involved and invested in making sure I, and more importantly my daughter, was happy with the selection.
I recently had a pickup installed on my 33 yr old acoustic Fender. I am so pleased with the end result. Mike took the time to select the best product to use and ensured necessary repairs were made to the saddle and bridge before installation. He even took the time to explain the process to me.
Selling or trading gear at A Sound Education
A Sound Education comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at A Sound Education
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at A Sound Education. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
