What's on the wall
“It's rare to find his kind of committed service anymore so, when I find it, I like to spread the word.”
“I'd had more than enough time to play the other guitar (which they quickly found when I walked in), a very gently used Collings D-1A which has been in my bucket list for years.”
“It fits beautifully into my recording setup and has that "open" character that only a thin satin finish gives and of course that unique J-45 sound.”
“I've purchased couple items from Alamo so far, a Fender guitar amp and a new electronic drum set.”
“We decided to finally purchase a piano and while searching for a used piano, I came across this store as they had exactly what I was looking for and a very reasonable price.”
Brands they deal
“I've purchased couple items from Alamo so far, a Fender guitar amp and a new electronic drum set.”
“This is another purchase from him—following a Taylor last year—and the Gibson '50s Faded J-45 in Natural he picked for me is perfect.”
What players say again and again
“I have purchased quite a few high end guitars from Alamo and it's because of the sales expertise I get from David Clecker in guitars.”
“We decided to finally purchase a piano and while searching for a used piano, I came across this store as they had exactly what I was looking for and a very reasonable price.”
From the reviews
First Experience, Late 2023 I had made an appointment to come into the shop and play three guitars. David, the sales associate I was working with was easy going and both professional and knowledgeable. It's rare to find his kind of committed service anymore so, when I find it, I like to spread the word.
Bought the o10e Isabell and was very happy with the experience. It was prompt communication with the order with Zac by text message and Zac helped get it expedited shipped to me overnight. Got it the next day, Well packed/cushioned, and the guitar was great.
I suppose Texas isn't called "The Friendly State" for no reason. Cooper's hospitality is unrivaled. Quick, responsive, thorough, provided as many photos as I asked for of specific instruments. I've had other retailers flat-out refuse to send photos of specific serials.
Alamo Music now has a very happy customer in Indiana! I ordered an 814ce Builders Edition from Jon over the phone. He was such a professional yet listened to me and my needs on a personal level. Yes, I am very picky when spending this kind of money.
Selling or trading gear at Alamo Music Center
Alamo Music Center comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Alamo Music Center
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Alamo Music Center. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
