From the reviews
Greatest music store ever. The real deal hometown rock and roll store. It's got drums, guitars, amps, PA system components and installs, DJ lights, and all of the shenanigans ya need to get your gig going.
I'll start by saying Alvis is a small home town guitar dealer and repair shop. If you truly want to feel cared about as a person and not a $$ shop here. Brett is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. Now if he doesn't have what you want in stock he never fails to ask if you would like him to order it for you.
Alvis Music & Sound is the real deal. Super cool place with an even cooler vibe. The owner and staff are awesome—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about music. Whether you're just browsing or hunting for something specific, this is the kind of shop you actually want to hang out in.
My go to! I took guitar lessons there when I was 13 but quit only to start playing again at 20. I wasn’t sure at all where to start as far as new strings, picks, and a good tuner went, but the staff was super knowledgeable and friendly and helped me get started again.
Selling or trading gear at Alvis Music & Sound
Alvis Music & Sound comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
