“They have various sections withing each genre, new arrivals, reduced price and second hand plus regular priced stuff.”
What players say again and again
“Prices varied… single albums weren’t cheap, but you can really find good deals on new stuff and box sets.”
From the reviews
This is one of the oldest record stores that still exists in the Bay Area. My niece collects vinyl records so we came here. I haven’t been here in a very long time. There is tons of old and new records you can find. They have other items like vintage tees, mugs, pins and more. The store is huge.
Excellent selection of music, especially vinyl. Helpful staff who is pretty well informed on a wide range of music styles. It’s a great space overall as well. It’s not all too easy to get to by public transportation but there are a few buses which go by; definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting San Francisco.
Huge. Huge. Enormous. This is a mega store for all things music. Vinyl, cds, dvds, posters, books, you name it, it’s there. Huge selections. Give yourself plots of time for perusing. They even have an information desk.
I absolutely love this store. They have a vast collection of vinyl, CDs and tapes. The staff are very cool and helpful. As a new vinyl lover, I will be back here to purchase more. One love and please don't close this place we need record stores!!
Selling or trading gear at Amoeba Music
Amoeba Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
