From the reviews

This place rules and is a wonderful acoustic shop. I drive 30 miles to go every time and it's worth it. One of the best mandolin selections right outside the DMV. And they are a certified Taylor warranty repair shop - they took care of everything for me. It was all transparent.

Experienced music shop with a great team! I’ve always been skeptical of buying guitars online - especially older guitars, but I had a GREAT experience with Tim and the Appalachian Bluegrass team. I recently purchased a 38 year old Taylor guitar online from Appalachian Bluegrass.

Great local resource for guitars and other stringed instruments. I had such a positive experience. Tim and Bill were patient, extremely knowledgeable and helped me make a great decision on a new guitar. Cannot say enough about these guys! My fingers are about to fall off playing my new guitar!!!

I am very satisfied with Appalachian Bluegrass. I bought a longneck Bacon Belmont banjo from them and I noticed after playing it a few days that the strings were slipping off the fingerboard. I called them saying I would reluctantly need to return the banjo, as it wasn't playing right and was causing me bad habits.

Lessons at Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe

Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
