From the reviews
Dropped off a Strat for a setup. Over the course of a week I called about twenty times to add requests for mods, ending on a full setup with shift from 9s to 10s, bridge pup and pickgaurd swap, and upgrade to bone for the nut. The setup and mods were clearly done with great care and came out really well.
Got my acoustic and classical guitars set up at Backstage Music. Tony did a terrific job on both of them. Quick turnaround, too, although he was busy at the time. Got both guitars back ahead of schedule with low, smooth, and easy to play action. The price was very reasonable though I was expected to pay more.
Called them for advice with a broken preamp active pickup. Ended up bringing it in, and they fixed the faulty wiring and replaced a potentiometer in less than 2 hours. It was a little pricey at $80, but I think it was worth it for how fast the service was. Everything works and it feels like I got a brand new guitar!
Great store and top of the line technical support. Excellent selection of amps and guitars and any other musical instrument you need. Staff is helpful without being pushy. Additionally, Tony Foster is as great a guitar and amp tech as you will find.
Lessons at Backstage Music
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Backstage Music. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
