entire staff made the long-distance bass buying process a pleasant experience. Bass arrived with an issue, Bob went out of his way to make it right and handled a difficult situation with pure class. I could not be more pleased with how they do business. Next time I need an instrument or bow they will be my first stop.
They let us try out different sizes of double basses. He showed so many things about the bass. He was patient and let us explore on our own for a bit. They repair, sell, and rent bass violins. While there, we even got a mini concert of other more prolific players who were also trying out different basses.
I recently purchased a great Nick Lloyd 7/8 bass violin from the Bass Violin Shop in Greensboro, NC. This is the second bass that I have bought from them, as well a few bows. They always have a great inventory of fine basses that will meet the needs of a beginner, all the way up to the most discerning professionals.
I’ve had three different basses worked on by the Bass Violin Shop, and the professionalism and Craftsmanship has always been top-notch! Everyone at the shop is helpful, knowledgeable, and kind.
Selling or trading gear at Bass Violin Shop
Bass Violin Shop comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
