I cannot leave a high enough rating for this business!! I’ve been renting and working with Craig and Mark since I started playing bass when I was 9 years old, and I have had nothing but the BEST service! When Craig opened up Burton City Basses I was ecstatic to see a DEDICATED BASS SHOP in the Flint area!
Craig and co offer an absolute mastery of their craft - I happily bought my current bass from him a few years back (a lyon and healy that he restored and truly brought back from the dead) and he's done nothing but amazing work keeping my 115 year old baby sounding and playing like a dream.
Craig does amazing work and is so kind, knowledgeable, and patient. I've brought my bass in to get a C extension, new strings, and have some other minor adjustments made, and I won't be taking it anywhere except Burton City Basses in the future.
Selling or trading gear at Burton City Basses
Burton City Basses comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
