BYO guitars are fantastic!!! I have been really impressed with their knowledge, craftsmanship, and how accommodating to the customer they are. In fact I purchased another Gorgeous electric guitar from them because of how nice my first electric guitar was.
I personally had a great experience with BYO Guitar. I ordered the licensed body / neck telecaster kit...with the body made in the USA in the BYO shop. So, I can't speak for the more generic kits, but I ended up with a guitar that I think sounds well beyond my investment.
I have 4 guitars from BYOG, and another on the way! Nice people, great products, fair prices. They sell kits that are built in their custom shop, and also some inexpensive kits made elsewhere. You can customize with various types of wood, and they do an excellent job of building the guitar.
I asked for a custom kit, my dream guitar. I got it and then some. I’m still working on it, almost done with the final finish and so far it’s looking better than I expected for a first build. When done, I’ll have a Custom LP with beautiful wood, binding, 3 custom pickups and an original Floyd Rose.
