Sweet little guitar shop right beside the Chelsea Hotel in NYC. These guys did a setup for me that was the best I've had on my (unfortunately not vintage) Martin. While there, I looked at their vintage guitars, and they were all awesome.
I love going into this place. I moved to the city a few years ago and needed a place to take my guitars and given the proximity to the Chelsea Hotel and all the stories that surround it I had to make Chelsea Guitars my place for instrument repair. I've brought my bass and guitars in for setups.
Not sure why there's such a wide variance in ratings. Personally, my experience has been fantastic. I went in to get a guitar tuned up, and without any additional charge of a standard tuneup, they noticed my bridge was starting to pull off and repaired it. All this in a super fast turnaround and friendly service.
A unique spot to find a guitar shop in the midst of a busy and famous hotel , this tiny. Store has been here for 50 years and has been visited by all kinds of legendary musicians. Not the biggest selection but we picked up a special T-shirt and had a great chat with the owner.
