What's on the wall
“If you are interested in buying a classical guitar, this shop is hard to beat and well worth the trip even if you aren’t local to Philly.”
“It’s become rare in recent times to get this level of knowledge and service when seeking just about any new purchase, and that’s why a positive review is well earned here.”
“Nicole, who is an experienced guitar luthier, also helped me with her expertise and care, ensuring my guitar has been in top-notch condition.”
“Started taking lessons here with John Penn, (who is a great teacher, I'm loving the lessons) and the ziricote sides of the Esteve 3Z caught my eye while I was waiting in the shop.”
“Lastly, I also purchased a book of Brazilian Folk Tunes that Bill previewed for me.”

“As a complete beginner who only first held a guitar a few weeks ago, normally the thought of going into a place like this would never have entered my mind.”
From the reviews
There are few guitar stores in Philly I return to often and I can’t recommend the Classical Guitar Store in Philadelphia enough! I've been in and out of this store for the past 2 years and had purchased a Kremona F65 classical guitar here, which is an absolute joy to learn to play.
My first experience here was everything I could have asked for. It’s a great shop run by excellent people. Nicole helped me through the purchase, and made it a fun process of choosing. She’s also the luthier and she exudes care for the instrument and the craft. Everyone in the place was a treat to interact with.
Wonderful experience purchasing a guitar here. The owner patiently walked me through the process, encouraging me to try different instruments. Very low-key approach, with no pressure or judgement. Highly recommended!
Stopped by to talk about classical guitar and look around for some music for a friend. Ended up grabbing some copies of various free music booklets they had on offer. Great place!
Lessons at Classical Guitar Store
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Classical Guitar Store. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
