What players say again and again
“One of the best record stores I've ever been to, absurdly good selection and very knowledgeable staff.”
From the reviews
Dolly and I found an ORIGINAL album cover artwork by Barbara Kruger!!! It was $5! Pretty cool & cute record shop. I enjoyed the music they played while shopping. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
One of the best record shops I've ever been to. Extremely well curated with all genres, but I especially love the reggae sections, both 45s and LPs. I have never been to a shop in the states that has such a great and expansive reggae selection.
This place is small but do not let that keep you from coming in. The selection is great especially with world music. Lots of New Orleans artists and regional music as well. The prices are right and staff friendly. If you are a dedicated collector make this a must stop while in town.
Fantastic record store! I really liked their selection, a wide range from world music to local and jazz. As I told the person behind the counter, I do not know how they do it but their prices are really great! I saw sealed Blue Note tone poets or classic series for half of the price!
Selling or trading gear at Domino Sound Record Shack
Domino Sound Record Shack comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
