From the reviews
They are a great group of guys there. There prices are a little better than any other place I've been to. their trade in value is slightly higher than other places I won't mention.. this place has the coolest selection of vintage guitars and amps that I ever seen.
I was recommended to Driftwood Music by Gibson. I have my dad's Les Paul Gibson which has been broken for as long as I've ever seen it. He died when I was 9, I started playing when I was 13. I have multiple guitars now but really wanted this Gibson fixed.
I've had a lot of positive experiences at a lot of music shops in and around St. Louis, but nobody can compare with the workmanship at Driftwood. Every time I get an instrument back from them, it feels like I'm getting back the best possible version of it.
The employees were friendly. The selection of used guitars was different. I did feel bad for the fish in the fish tank as you walk in. Given that it looked like a long time since it was cleaned.
Selling or trading gear at Driftwood Music
Driftwood Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
