From the reviews
My experience with renting through EMI was fantastic. We used them for my anniversary party this Saturday. It was a small event, less than 100 folks, at the Shoreview Community Center. They delivered and picked up promptly. The setup was quick and easy and I was given a thorough tutorial on the speaker.
Helped me out with exactly what I needed. No haggle no handle what so ever. Very very reasonably priced (way better than guitar center). Chris was very helpful as well.
We had an excellent experience at EMI audio! We weren’t 100% sure what lights we were going to need/want for our wedding and the sales staff gave us great advice and even let us swap out some of the products from our original rental reservation.
EMI is a fantastic business with some of the most incredible staff! I had the pleasure of working mostly with Holden, who was so helpful every step of the way. He provided me with great recommendations including the pros and cons of different options.
Selling or trading gear at EMI Audio
EMI Audio comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
