I’ve been going to Underwood’s for 20+ years, since I was in middle school. All my horns have been serviced by him through the years: high school, college, and adult life. Gary is not only a certified technician, but specializes in vintage horns. There’s no one else I trust more with my babies.
Cannot speak highly enough of Underwood Music. Gary fine tuned my alto sax that had been sitting in a closet for years. He made it play better than it ever has and even allowed for an additional two months of adjustments if I was not happy.
These folks always make time for me when I need an unexpected repair. Which, of course, is always right before a job. Always grateful for great service. If you play Mark VI's, he's your guy. Nice selection of mouthpieces to try.
So happy I found this wonderful shop! I visited them in hopes of getting a plastic trumpet repaired. David and Gary both took time with me to analyze the trumpet, and they made me feel like a valued guest and customer.

First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
