What's on the wall
“The store's selection is massive, with dedicated rooms for acoustic guitars and a great section for drums and production gear downstairs.”
“I came in looking for my first electric guitar, feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options.”
“Great selection, an actual wall for basses instead of the corner of shame most other guitar centers relegate the bass to, and good people.”
“I loved being able to try out different amps and guitars without feeling rushed or pressured to make a purchase.”
“Even though I wasn't ready to pull the trigger on a new rig that day, checking out the "On Sale" tags and seeing the diversity of their used inventory was a blast.”
“He did me a huge favor and helped me restring on the spot despite it usually needing to fall in the backlog.”

Brands they deal
“He didn't pressure me to buy the most expensive model; instead, he recommended a great entry-level Squier Stratocaster package that fit my budget perfectly.”
What players say again and again
“Shoutout to Igor for being super friendly and helpful in helping me get my guitar restrung and kindly explaining some beginner guitar concepts to me.”
From the reviews
I never write reviews ever but Pat saved my life. Had a show at the end of the week and my darling acoustics input was broken. I was so panicked about it, but he talked me through every option and repaired it in a day. So so kind, and my guitar sounds great! So just wanted to say huge thanks!
Guitar Center in the Atlantic Cener mall has moved to a better location and when I attend the grand opening it was awesome. Funkmaster Flex was there and he did not disappoint. The new location is more spacious and has a larger selection of guitars. Customer service was great.
Exceptional Service and Selection! I don't usually write reviews, but my experience at the Brooklyn Guitar Center location was fantastic and totally deserving of five stars. I came in looking for my first electric guitar, feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options.
My partner and I went in to sell a guitar and Danny (staff member) was immediately swamped despite the shop having just opened. He was super patient, polite and managed to get our sale done quickly. In spite of calling for support multiple times and not getting any, he remained calm, helpful and professional.
Selling or trading gear at Guitar Center
Guitar Center comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Guitar Center
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Guitar Center. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
