Love the store and it always feels so nice in there. I also like to take pictures of the instruments from time to time while looking and I get inspired. Thanks to the whole crew there for being so cool and for selling me my first guitar... and wont be my last :)
The "local" guitar shops of my youth, once literal Meccas for young players are sadly a dying breed. I know where the remaining ones are, and I look to them to hold the history and toe the line. But Guitar Center has become my go-to for strings and the "used walls." That's where you find the interesting fiddles.
I just had an amazing experience with Elliot at the GC over the phone. He walked me through building a complete package…guitar, amp, cords, and stand. This was done over the phone, so the element of trust was needed, and he helped me with fair and thorough information. He was kind and knowledgeable.
Went in tonight to have an acoustic and electric guitar restrung and tuned up. Had to leave one because it needs tune up but Danny took care of the other for us while we waited a few minutes. Great customer service.

First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
