What's on the wall
“Excellent selection of both new and used records, with something for every kind of collector.”
“They have turntable listening stations so you can sit and listen to any of the opened and used vinyls they have so you can listen before you buy.”
From the reviews
This is an overdue review, but I absolutely love House of Wax. My boyfriend and I would come and peruse whenever we came to downtown, but last month, I decided to buy my boyfriend a turntable since he has wanted one but could not justify buying one.
House of Wax is the best shop in Tehachapi, period. A music shop has been needed in this town for far too long. The owners, Matt and Kim, are big supporters of the local music scene. They know a lot about music, both current and past, and can give great recommendations if they're needed.
The best place to find music in town. Everytime I go into this shop I'm finding new things and bands that I needed in my life. Do yourself a favor and come inside and see what its like!
Great selection of new & used vinyl. Apparently they do shows there too, I'm going to have to check them out. Cool vibes inside. Will definitely be going back.
Selling or trading gear at House of Wax
House of Wax comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
