From the reviews
Took my trombone in for dent repairs to the bell section and repairs to the slide which was really dragging and almost unplayable. I was seen immediately as I walked through the door and the dents taken out and repair to the slide as I waited.
These guys do magic. $400 of cleaning & repair work later my bach 37 strad trumpet is playing so much better. They were also great about giving me updated estimates as they found new problems and came in below the upper range for each one - a very honest and fair process
When I was in need of a repair for my bass trombone (Yamaha Xeno model), I made the mistake of taking it to a local repair shop. Not only was it not fixed properly, but they made it worse. Frustrated, I asked my brass-playing friends for recommendations, and most of them suggested Landress.
It was a great experience testing out the brass instruments here in this music store! Even the vintage trumpet and the bass trombone (I still keep struggling on both of these instruments though) When I was trying out one of the Bach Stradivarius trumpets they have, the first valve was kinda sticky but I’m still happy…
Selling or trading gear at J. Landress Brass
J. Landress Brass comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
