What's on the wall
“I have a tele body and parts that I bought separately on ebay along with a strat neck I have had under my bed for the past 40 years.”
“Jack knew I was travelling from a few hours away to drop off my Talman bass for a bridge replacement and repositioning.”
“Had a very pleasant interaction with the owner and (I believe) his wife where he fixed a volume pedal I when I was prepared to buy a new one.”
“They sell a nice mix between vintage and modern guitars, some of which can be radically modified, and they're starting to carry more new brands!”
“I always prefer shopping locally, and Jack's has all sorts of new and used options that you'd never find at say Guitar Center.”
“I thought I was going to be dropping off and coming back in a few weeks, but he worked his schedule out to where he was able to repair my bass while we waited.”
“They initially did some work on my mandolin and were very dedicated to the work and making sure I was taken care of.”
Brands they deal
“It took a long while but I finally decided it was time for my late husband’s Dakota Red Fender Mustang to have a new life.”
“Jack recently fixed my Taylor acoustic after my toddler dropped it, snapping off the headstock.”
What players say again and again
“I even brought a second bass to be set up that needed the neck shimmed, without letting him know before hand, and he took care of it in 15 minutes or less like it was no big deal.”
“They were very friendly when I did have questions, and are all knowledgeable on what they're selling.”
“The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and are quick to offer help if you need it.”
“Great deals, great atmosphere, low pressure, very knowledgeable, great people and a magnificent dog.”
From the reviews
Amazing service! Incredible work! Superbly friendly staff! Jack knew I was travelling from a few hours away to drop off my Talman bass for a bridge replacement and repositioning.
I've bought 2 guitars from Jack, and my wife has surprised me with a third as a gift. I can give him five stars on Google, but the real review is that I live in Atlanta and I have made the trek up to Tennessee for the sole purpose of buying my second guitar from his in person shop.
If you’re a musician in the Nashville area and haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. This place is a local treasure. Jack is an incredible businessman with years of experience under his belt. He also has a fantastic selection of unique guitars.
Jack's Guitarcheology is an awesome place! I highly recommend it. Jack was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He has expert knowledge on every guitar you pick up. So you buy history and maybe even a story with your guitar which makes it more special to own and enjoy.
Selling or trading gear at Jack's Guitarcheology
Jack's Guitarcheology comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
