I have a new Martin 000-18 that was in need of an action adjustment. A quick google search seemed to suggest that these guys were the best in the area (I live in Portland). They are quite busy, but Joel e-mailed me as soon as he had a spot open. Matt said it'd probably be ready about a week.
If you have guitar that you treasure....Joel is the person to go to. Exceptional customer service and the skills to make magic happen. I have taken 4 instruments to Joel, Mid 1960s Gibson Country Western - total restoration, 1965 Epihpone Texan - bridgework, 1973 SG Special - refret, fretboard work, and lastly a 1963…
Joel is an skilled and expert luthier. I took my 70’s era Martin D-18 to him a year ago for a neck reset, but he quickly surmised that its saddle was also in the wrong place, by about a 1/4”! Properly positioning the saddle would expose bare wood, so he stripped the top and did an flawless refinishing.
I brought in my 1960s Gibson LG, a family heirloom, for some serious repairs. It needed a neck reset, new bridge, new nut, etc. Joel was friendly and responsive, and I trusted that my guitar was in good hands. The results did not disappoint; the guitar came back in fantastic shape.
