From the reviews
I had a great visiting Kilgore and this was my favorite part, buying a really awesome guitar for a great price. And the owner, I can’t recall his name unfortunately, was so friendly, helpful and dedicated Kilgore enthusiast. Before they make him mayor, you better go check out this place.
Great local spot in Kilgore. Very good selection of ice cream and jellies. My first visit was during Cruise Night in downtown Kilgore. I didn't have the chance to visit the music/guitar side of the business, but I will be back for sure. Had a great time here! Very friendly staff too!
I went in Kilgore Mercantile and Music for a gift for my 20 yo male cousin. I ended up with a gift for him and my 6 yo nephew. I saw items I will go back and purchase for Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. To be perfectly frank, this will be my go to gift shop from now on. They will let you try most of the toys!
I have visited Kilgore Mercantile & Music two times and both times were terrific! The people here are just awesome. Warm, friendly and courteous and after chatting for a few minutes, they make you feel like a longtime friend.
Lessons at Kilgore Mercantile & Music
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Kilgore Mercantile & Music. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
