From the reviews

I thought the crack on my Taylor was not fixable, John made it seem like it was no big deal to fix it. He understood my situation and my need to have it quickly. He told me he would get to it as quick as he could. I wasn't expecting to get a call the very next day.

Mr. McDonald has an exceptional shop! It’s well organized, his work is fantastic and he is a true Gentleman and business man! He’s set-up several of my guitars and has never let me down. Every set-up was great the first time round! The only place to go for quality work and most importantly QUALITY SERVICE!!!

★★★★★ — Travis, Jan 2020

Amazing work! I've been a local musician in town for a long time. I had an old guitar that had been given to me by my dad 15 years ago. The bridge had split and the bridge plate cracked.

I very rarely post reviews online, but the great work and service that John provided to me definitely deserves a shout out. I ordered a guitar from a different part of the country that gave me some issues due to it getting damaged during shipping and starting to buzz due to humidity. I had to go back to Mr.

Selling or trading gear at McLuthier's Guitar Sales and Service

McLuthier's Guitar Sales and Service comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
