John was an absolute legend! It’s a sad rarity to have such a welcoming vibe when walking into a guitar shop, and this guy nailed it! Can’t wait to hang again.
Stumbled in with my wife and kiddo while we were wasting time fleeing from a hurricane. I've had a love for eastman guitars for a while, but it's hard to find a local dealer where I live to try them out. They have a great selection of Eastman as well as many other brands from Martin Taylor, Epiphone, Vintage, etc.
Only giving 4 stars because l never give 5. In the event I'm ever truly blown away by a business where am l to go if I've already peppered 5 stars everywhere... That being said, I do repairs and mods from the house. So l usually order my supplies online.
I took my Martin guitar in for setup and spoke with luthier Jon Clayton, one of the nicest people you would ever want to deal with. He is so knowledgeable of setting up and repairing instruments with excellent customer service. I got my guitar and did not realize it could play and sound so good.
Selling or trading gear at Metro Music
Metro Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
