From the reviews
I’ve been to music stores all over the country and Music City is by far one of the best. Would give more stars if I could. Benny is just fantastic to talk to and makes you feel at home and gives no pressure to buy anything. He is just there to share his passion for music.
I went to music city for a couple of pieces essential equipment for my stage performances. The store is not too small, filled with guitars, violins, and other awesome looking instruments. The clerk let me try out one of their interfaces to see if it works with my software. He was very helpful.
Great place! My husband was looking for a guitar and amp. I had emailed them asking about certain guitars. Benny emailed me back later that day. We decided to go there. Benny was amazing! No pressure sales, extremely helpful. My husband got a guitar and amp that he is super happy with. Prices are great.
Legendary music store and the one I compare all others to. Benny and his staff are extremely knowledgeable. The store has an incredible inventory and the biggest in the area (sorry Guitar Center). I've been shopping there since age ten or so and I've never had a single bad experience. Stop in, you won't regret it!
Selling or trading gear at Music City
Music City comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Music City
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Music City. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
