From the reviews

We called in to setup same day appointment. They give you a whole hour to explain all the options, you can try out as many as you want and in any price range. The sales person Matthew helped us with all our questions. He is not pushy and provides all the details you need including warranty, delivery etc.

Excellent piano store. I've purchased 3 Yamaha pianos and sold back 2 of them over the past years with great results. The managers and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and low-key; no high pressure sales culture, and you're free to wander around and play and try out pianos to your heart's content.

★★★★★ — Patti, Feb 2024

It took me over a year to finally purchase my piano from the Music Exchange. The staff here was always very patient with me while I tried them all out again and again. They provided me with all the info I needed on the instruments I was most interested in and never once pressured me to buy.

Visit this store for several times, it’s the dealer for Yamaha. Usually during the weekend, there are many customers but there’s only one or two staffs can help. Most piano are available for playing so I don’t mind spend some time waiting for the staff.

Selling or trading gear at Music Exchange | Piano Store in San Jose, CA

Music Exchange | Piano Store in San Jose, CA comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.

Lessons at Music Exchange | Piano Store in San Jose, CA

Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Music Exchange | Piano Store in San Jose, CA. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
