From the reviews
I picked up my Taylor 300 series from Mike at Music emporium. I’ve never been “fitted” for a guitar before. Mike set me up with a few options in my price range and asked me what I liked about the playability, tone, and feel of the instruments. He set me up with the Taylor and I was blown away.
I came here to get my newly gifted Gibson Les Paul that my wife purchased from Guitar Center worked on. Unfortunately, the guy at GC took it upon himself to lower the action and made it unplayable with fret buzz all over the neck.
I bought a PRS CE24 from them. I brought it in as I thought I needed to get a setup. Mike helped me out and was very accommodating. The service is excellent everyone there is awesome. The place itself is also very comfortable and they have a ton of great guitars in there.
I recently bought a Martin 00-28 Standard from this store through an ad they placed on Reverb. It was advertised as in “mint” condition and the sale price was just too good to pass up. It arrived today and I believe it’s going to be my favorite guitar out of all the others I’ve ever owned or played.
Lessons at New York Music Emporium
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at New York Music Emporium. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
