This is such an LA gem! The staff here are super kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The staff-member I worked with took ample time answering my questions, teaching me things about guitar, and finding the right product for me. The store itself is beautiful and I found the store and the overall experience very inspiring.
Changed this review because I know Old Style is a small indie shop trying to get by … Seems like a cool shop with cool folks who were having a bad day. They got annoyed at me playing for less than 30 minutes on a shop-built guitar … You’d think they want to sell those.
Old Style Guitar Shop has an entirely different energy, vibe and atmosphere like no other vintage guitar shops in LA. Soon as you walk in, it will hit you like a time machine. Love the inventory with the most unusual guitars everywhere and they all speak for themselves.
Reubens does excellent affordable work. He cleated a crack in the top of my Gibson LG-O, re-glued a split in the back and secured some loose bracing. He even gave me repair tips when I showed interest in doing some smaller repairs on my own.
