This place is like Heaven. I got to try 6 clarinets: used and new, nickel and silver plated, various wood finishes. I helped my sister select a new clarinet. She hasn't played in decades and I play regularly. It was good to do side by side comparisons of the clarinets.
Great selection of new and used instruments, testing rooms, friendly staff. Trial program of theirs is unbeatable. The fact that technician James is available to consul and answer questions, is quite a big deal too. Highly recommended.
I got a new mouth piece here. They have a good setup, as well as a wide range of products for clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. Only problem is its rather hidden. Also, the repair queue can get backed up.
After having poor experiences with a local instrument repair shop, we were very leery about continuing business with them. We were told that RDG was THE place to take your oboe for repairs and maintenance by two different professional oboists.

First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
