From the reviews
Rob has always been extremely accommodating whenever I've come to the store. I've been in several times now I've had a restring, completed, work on foot pedal, purchase of new guitar, and several accessory items. Every question I had was answered each and everytime .
There is this little tiny gem of a store on the south side. This is not necessarily a store for the working musician, this is the store for the parent who wants to buy their child their first instrument.
I have been taking 2 grandchildren to guitar lessons for quit awhile now. They are 6 and 9. These kids cannot wait to get there. They automatically go to Rob to get a big hug then off to Erick Kent the music instructor. To listen to them play guitar, laugh and sing brings so much to my heart !
A cool little store, plenty of variety for guitars and bass ect. Makes good use of the space they got. Super solid guy, came in with my baby looking to trade a guitar. Have me a fair offer and offered me a trade and was pleasantly surprised. Probably one of the best set up guitars I've ever bought/traded for.
Selling or trading gear at Rob's Music & More
Rob's Music & More comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Rob's Music & More
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Rob's Music & More. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
