First instrument of mine was from Schmitt. I’ve stopped in a few times just to look around, and they do allow you to try the instruments in store if you have played them before. Staff was helpful and seemed knowledgeable. There’s a limited selection and provides a simple array of general products.

This is where you want to get your kids instrument. Their prices are very competitive and they have amazing affordable payment plans that include service/maintenance. Today I needed the cork on my son's saxophone repaired and they fixed it the same day while we waited for 15ish min.
