What's on the wall
“I am one to get frustrated when I can’t get something right away, and his encouragement and support is what is keeping me going on those tough “I suck” days.”
“He gave me an excellent deal on my trade-ins and helped me pick out a perfect bass (Stingray) for my needs.”
“Places like Chicago Music Exchange, Rock N Roll Vintage & Synth City and Saturday Audio Exchange may have a monopoly on the vintage, hard-to-find.”
“After I had made my decision to go with the absolutely wonderful Heritage H-150, Jim, who is very pleasant and personable, we discussed options and value for trade-in.”
“Purchase came with a very professional re-string / setup that would have went more quickly had I kept my mouth shut and stopped asking questions.”
“I was absolutely floored by this man’s knowledge to the point where I asked HIM for lessons.”
Brands they deal
“Jim was instrumental (pun intended) in helping me resurrect an old Fender guitar that hadn't been out of its case in years.”
“Sparky gave me a very fair trade-in price for two guitars I brought in and I put it toward a PRS that was already marked-down on sale.”
“I’ve known him for five years and bought my third instrument from him on Thursday, this sweet kickass Gretsch resonator.”
“I had been wanting to sell or trade a 2016 Rickenbacker I owned (but rarely played) and after reading some very positive reviews decided to pay Sparky’s a visit.”

“Talking with him, his expertise is evident and the set up of the bass I purchased is superb.”
“He took me in right away, for a little extra money, but it was worth every penny.”
From the reviews
Oh my gosh. I need to come on here and just write an absolutely RAVE review about Jim and his amazing guitar store, “Sparky’s Guitars”. I’ve been singing my whole life and have always wanted to try an instrument so that I could accompany myself in some way. My dad recently passed away, and I was gifted his old guitar.
Wow, what a hidden treasure Sparky's Music is! Jim and Robert were professional, friendly, and helpful, and I left with a beautiful ES-335. Jim adjusted the action for me right there in the shop. They have some great guitars in stock, and an experienced technician for setups and more.
Jim was instrumental (pun intended) in helping me resurrect an old Fender guitar that hadn't been out of its case in years. We swapped out nearly every bit of hardware, refretted the neck, and put in new pickups. Jim had great recommendations along the way and put a lot of effort into bringing the guitar back to life.
Great Experience purchasing my guitar at Sparky’s - great people, great musicians, great pricing. Highly recommend over larger music music / instrument distributors. Love supporting small business / good people!! Much appreciated Sparky!
Lessons at Sparky's Guitars
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Sparky's Guitars. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
