From the reviews
Absolutely the best music store in town. The owner is knowledgeable, reasonable, and extremely friendly. I take lessons, have bought a guitar and an amp, and pick up strings regularly, and every time I always leave feeling like I’ve learned something about my instrument or music in general.
The owner Rob is a very nice guy ,very courteous. The repair technician Eric, for stringed instruments is one of the best.
Stage 1 Music was indirectly recommended to us by our neighbors. Basically, we got invited to one of their recitals at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center and we were blown away by the musicality displayed by kids across a broad but young age range.
Older dude that's getting back into guitar after a long hiatus. I was in the market for a new amp and found this place next to my mom's. I wanted to avoid the big box stores (Guitar Center) as I wanted to find a shop with people that seemed passionate about music, not just selling musical equipment.
Lessons at Stage 1 Music
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Stage 1 Music. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
