From the reviews
Visiting from Indiana and so amazed by the collection here. Prices are very reasonable, used and new available. Easy to browse, staff/owner was more than willing to help look for anything you ask for… We were able to find records that we searched for back home for a while now.
Had some records from cleaning out a family member’s house and not knowing much about them I reached out to State Street Records and with in minutes received a message back regarding on how to proceed with getting appraisal, worth or value by following a few simple steps. Very helpful, polite and patient.
We are novice record collectors, but based on the record stores in the general area that we have visited, this one was by far the best. Store is clean, well-organized, and has an incredible inventory. If there’s something weird you want to find, chances are Josh has it or can find it. He’s honest and fair-priced.
This place has a nice selection of records, including a bargain bin in the back with some hidden treasures. The owner was really friendly and chatted about all kinds of music, and made some recommendations based on the stuff I was picking out.
Selling or trading gear at State Street Records
State Street Records comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
