Incredibly well stocked new and used video shop! I drive out from Grand Rapids just to come here. Super great service and trade-ins are worth it. The entire vibe of the store is so fun and well organized (which i appreciate when looking for specific genre or DVD label) Definitely worth the drive from out of town for a…
This place is AMAZING! They have a side that is games and music, and another side that is Movies and hardware. For movies they have new items from Arrow, Vinegar Syndome, etc. They also have great vintage selection with VHS and Beta as well. The employees know their stuff.
I never write reviews, but this place rocks. They are the only physical media store in West Michigan outside of retro game stores and FYE and I only purchase in-person from here now because I want to support a local business that cares about selling physical media.
Incredible store. So glad I stumbled across it online one day. I visit Holland often for family, and now make the extra little trip north, though I've driven straight from my house 2.5hrs away more than once already since April when I first found it too.
Selling or trading gear at Static Tape Video
Static Tape Video comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
