From the reviews
The Great Escape is really a gem in Murfreesboro. The staff are super helpful, the selection is good, and the prices are always fair. This location also has a really good flow of what they have available. It's never the same thing week after week.
I have visited the Nashville location a number of times and was happy to see Murfreesboro get a proper record store. A nice, roomy location with plenty of vinyl, CD's and comics. Lots of new selection to choose from.
Do you want to dance and boogie?? Get down to the Great Escape in Murfreesboro and find some tunes! Nicole will sign all the Hall and Oates autographs you put in front of her, Scott will dazzle you with his rich baritone vocals and Carson will blow your mind with his juggling routine!
This is still the best place on earth! I use to go to the Madison location all the time as a kid, took my 17 yr old daughter and she fell in love with the place. They have an amazing variety of vinyls for all genres. I picked up a couple Really cool vintage concert Tshirts while I was there.
Selling or trading gear at The Great Escape
The Great Escape comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
