I (Andy) talked with Zach Vance extensively about a new mandolin and picked up an Eastman 515cc tru tone which is more of the cherry/red color after Zach said he just liked the tone better. Being somewhat new to playing Zach led me in the right direction for a great setup instrument and great sounding mandolin.
I've purchased three mandolins from The Mandolin Store and wish it were possible to give them a 10 star rating. A few years ago I bought an Eastman 504 which I thought was a huge improvement over the antique bowlback mandolin I had been trying out.
I just purchased an Eastman F-style MD514 with oval sound hole. There are several positive comments I can share about the transaction with The Mandolin Store, but one feature in particular is specifically worth sharing. When my Eastman arrived, I took time to play/compare my Gibson F5 and the Eastman side by side.
