From the reviews
Hello! In 2013, I saw a Music Zoo advertisement for a Gibson Les Paul Signature T Gold Top on sale. I called about the guitar and the sales person told me that they were out of them. I was really disappointed. The gentleman could tell that I was really let down that they had sold out of the guitar.
I came to the music zoo after hearing about its legendary status and was helped by Tommy, the owner. I tried out the Stratocaster in the picture and was amazed at well it played. My one concern was that it would be difficult to flip lefty (I'm left-handed).
I recently purchased my Martin D-15M acoustic guitar from The Music Zoo, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. As a complete beginner looking to start my guitar journey, I couldn’t have asked for a more thoughtful and attentive guide than Ben.
I HIGHLY recommend Music Zoo in Farmingdale, NY!! The store is super clean, professional and inviting. I stopped in to see a pre-owned guitar I saw online and the sales rep, Ben, was able to locate it right away.
Selling or trading gear at The Music Zoo
The Music Zoo comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
