From the reviews
I have done a tremendous amount of business with Victory. The owner is very knowledgeable and personable. I've rarely if ever come across or any faulty equipment and if so its fixed at the store. Prices are very reasonable and accurate to market value. I intend on continuing doing business there as long as I can.
I have to say. I have been living here for 4 years in the Denison area. I have purchased seven guitars from James so far. I'm so thrilled with all of my purchases. He is knowledgeable and does a phenomenal job on setups !! I cannot be happier with my purchases . What a great little shop !!!
Took my daughters Loog Guitar(three strings designed for toddlers to learn on) to have James restring it for a left handed player. He took the time to figure out exactly what strings, tuning, and action were and fixed it all up for her. Sounds pretty good for a cheap Chinese made guitar. Plays better now as well.
Picture don't do it justice (crap cam quality). I've been taking my guitars to James throughout the years for service and he's THE GUY I trust to work on them. Moisture was attacking this bass from years of storage. Chrome was oxidizing, the neck was warping.. total nightmare.
Selling or trading gear at Victory Music
Victory Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Victory Music
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Victory Music. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
