I was in the market for a cello. At first when I seen the ad for Austin Violin shop I was hesitent to go...Well it is 2 hours away from me. Fortune struck and some business came up for me in that area. So I called explained my situation and they were happy and welcoming to my needs.
Family owned fine instrument retail and repair. Wonderful family of luthiers with a vast background in the liberal arts, and a dedication to instruments and symphony. Involved in starting school and community symphony programs.
I just spent a few hours here trying out different bass pickups. I had the Fishman BP100 and tested out the Full Circle and the Realist pickups. Joel and the luthier were so helpful, and we were surprised by the results. It's wonderful to have such a great resource for bass players this far from the city of Chicago.
A quaint little shop with beautiful landscaping in a quiet neighborhood. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Large selection of high quality violins and other string instruments. A beautiful place to spend an afternoon trying out instruments to find the perfect one. Highly recommended.
