From the reviews
Greg Raynard is, without so much as a scintilla of hyperbole, an amazing tube amp technician. The only negative you will ever hear is that he is slow in terms of turnaround time. At times, in fairness, this is in fact true to the impatient "i need my amp repaired yesterday" type.
Greg has worked on my Gibson Les Paul's a handful of times over the years. Setups & customizing. He is a true artisan, with care & enthusiasm & precision in his craft! He has worked on a handful of my amps over the years also, & he always exceeds on anything he works on for you. Above & beyond!
I've been doing business with Greg over 20 years. His attention to detail and your preferences allows him to apply his years of experience to a set up and/or repair that you're going to be very pleased with. I just picked up 2 guitars that he set up and did some fret work on. I couldn't be happier.
Greg is the most knowledgeable tech I've ever come to know. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, and I would only ever let Greg service my gear going forward. He is a fantastic person who loves to share his knowledge of gear with anyone who will listen.
Selling or trading gear at Cranky's
Cranky's comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
