From the reviews
Great place to go if you're looking for vinyl! I was very impressed with their post-punk offerings. Staff have been friendly every time I've come in. They've also been generous about returns--I bought a Mazzy Star album yesterday, got home and realized it was already in my partner's collection, and returned it today.
This is my favorite record store in Louisville. They have tons of indie and newer stuff that I look for. The owners and staff are nice and always down for a chat. They also will take feedback of what to order.
Guestroom Records is an absolute gem for any music lover! The selection is incredible, from rare vinyl finds to classic favorites, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about music. The vibe is welcoming and relaxed, making browsing a total joy.
We are on a hell of a roll here in Louisville! 1st stop on the Safari and what a stop. Absolute mega selection, good prices in a clean, well lit shop and a super helpful staff. Cool shirts and stickers for the wall too!
Selling or trading gear at Guestroom Records
Guestroom Records comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
