What's on the wall
“They had the perfect Telecaster I have been searching for over the last few months.”
“I was so impressed that I am taking my bass into them to be repaired when I have time off from work to do so.”
“They were helpful explaining the differences in some of the guitars, telling him to hit some pedals as he playing.”
“There used to be lots of guitar shops like this in the 1980s: family owned, small, full of killer pre-owned guitars that you don't see in Guitar Centers.”
“The staff was very friendly and pleasant, but I'm not sure my "repair" was much of anything.”

From the reviews
This is one of the coolest guitar shops I have been in and I go to a lot of them. They don't have a massive selection but they do have a very interesting collection. They had the perfect Telecaster I have been searching for over the last few months. The owner is incredibly friendly and has a ton of great stories.
Tim's a great guy to talk with and deal with. He has a great history of dealing with and associations with touring bands and great local musicians. One of the last independent music shops in Salem with a large selection of used gear. Only vintage guitar shop in town.
I love the Guitar Castle, it's a great guitar store. They have a growing and evolving selection of guitars, basses, amps, pedals and accessories. I've purchased guitars, an amp and pedals from the Guitar Castle. Their prices are good and they have worked with me as I've upgraded my gear.
I live in Los Angeles and stumbled into this shop while visiting Salem for a day. It was like walking back in time. There used to be lots of guitar shops like this in the 1980s: family owned, small, full of killer pre-owned guitars that you don't see in Guitar Centers.
Lessons at Guitar Castle
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Guitar Castle. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
