From the reviews
Roger is the friggen MAN. I bought a 100 year old banjo from guitar center at a discount because they insisted it couldn’t be fixed. Well guess what? The Guitar Doctor fixed it. Also, ignore any whiny reviews saying he takes long to do the repairs.
I am so glad that I brought my guitar to Roger. You can tell that he cares. He is the nicest guy and he is a very skilled luthier. I had taken my guitar to The Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney, it wasn’t a good experience.
I would definitely take a guitar to Roger's shop again! He worked on 3 guitars I had picked up second-hand and taught me a lot about each of them in the process.
I stumbled upon this store while trying to locate a place to have my classical guitar re-strung. And I have had nothing but good experience with Roger the guitar doctor. Roger knows his stuff and is very pleasant to deal with.
Selling or trading gear at Guitar Doctor in Texas
Guitar Doctor in Texas comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
