From the reviews
Great shop and great luthier. Brought a newly purchased guitar to Bob for a set up, got it home and played for a few days. Decided some things were not exactly how I wanted them. He said to come back in and he would tweak it to my requirements.
Bob was great to deal with, he was very informative on the phone and seemed truly passionate about his work. I decided to bring in my 7 String for a fret grind/polish - this guitar is a beast, locking trem system and stainless steel frets.
Bob has setup my 2000 Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster twice. The first time was with a floating bridge and the second time I asked him to change it to a fixed bridge setup with a heavier string gauge (from 9's to 11's). He also setup of my 2004 Gibson Les Paul Standard after I purchased it from eBay.
Bob corrected a poor fret job by another luthier. This guitar was a 63 Stratocaster and he restored the fingerboard to the correct radius. He suggested Dunlop fret wire and showed me a model of this type of wire. When he was finished the guitar felt perfect. The best fret man in the business.
Selling or trading gear at GuitarFixer Bob LLC
GuitarFixer Bob LLC comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
