John does great work and he does it at a fair price. I just got my vintage Martin D-28 back from him and could not be happier. His work is very tasteful and always appropriate to the instrument. He will go out of his way to find vintage replacement tuners from his stash if that's what your guitar tells him it needs.

John is an amazing luthier and simply a great person. Not only is he the type of person you'd enjoy hanging out with, but he also does some exquisite repair work on vintage acoustic instruments.
My eldest child took guitar lessons here. At the time we lived just a few blocks away and he would walk up to the shop with his instrument. My son loved learning from his instructor; Hargiss employed a few young folks to teach and my son liked the young man he was paired with.
