I had a setup done at Heyday Guitars. I had purchased the guitar used and it needed a lot of work. Buddha did an amazing job and it plays great. The turnaround time was quick and the prices were reasonable. I'll definitely be going back.
A bit of everything at all price points, and all good stuff. A lot you've heard of, and a lot that's uncommon. Very fair prices, especially on affordable gear. Also, based on what I observed, they really know their stuff on repairs and setups for amps and guitars.
Cool little shop. Went in wanting to sell a couple of amps, they took one at the price I ask for. These guys have a nice selection of guitars and amps and were friendlier than some other big shop in Winston. Support our smaller local businesses. I would recommend Hayday and plan on visiting again in the future.
A rare "mom and pop" guitar shop filled with quality instuments/gear and great people. It was a pleasure walking in there, browsing around and eventually purchasing a fantastic playing Martin clone they had. I wish my wallet allowed me to support them more, but I'll definitely be back for anything I need.
Selling or trading gear at Heyday Guitars
Heyday Guitars comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
