What players say again and again
“Even though they were busy, they were able to get us in and get it repaired before she left. Nothing but great things to say about this business.”
“Genuinely some of the kindest, most knowledgeable, and hard working people I’ve ever interacted with!”

From the reviews
I brought my bass guitar in for repair, was told it may be a few weeks since it's a busy time of year, which was totally fine! I was called once the repair was done and told in detail what repairs were made and further options for current or future repairs needed. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
I brought in an old trombone from my father in law, to see what they could do for it. They were real honest about it and gave some good advice. Their quote for tie repairs was a bit more than another I was given, but they seemed to really have their act together and know exactly what they were talking about.
Josh was outstanding! I just brought my family to the store for our first visit. We were looking to gather information on highschool band instruments, rentals and lessons, and Josh was very knowledgeable, educational, patient, encouraging, accommodating, and addressed EVERY question we had! Just a great experience!
My daughter’s flute was damaged when another marching band member ran into her. She was due to leave for a band competition the following weekend. Even though they were busy, they were able to get us in and get it repaired before she left. Nothing but great things to say about this business.
Selling or trading gear at Hill City Music & Repair Lynchburg
Hill City Music & Repair Lynchburg comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Hill City Music & Repair Lynchburg
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Hill City Music & Repair Lynchburg. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
