From the reviews
Great place for guitar repair and maintenance. J. Rieck did some major work on my 60's Gibson LGO. Neck reset, custom bridge, some fretwork etc. It wasn't cheap or fast but it was done right. It might be the best playing guitar I have ever played now. Precise craftsmanship is how I would describe it.
New shop feels great. I have had 3 pickup installs, and 3 saddles made. The work has been perfect with turn around time and communication being great. This place is special and Sioux Falls should be proud to have a pro level guitar shop in town.
Josh and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and precise with their maintenance and repairs. I have had several guitars serviced and the communication is top notch and craftsmanship second to none. Highly recommend.
My experience is very positive. They didn't just jump on me. As soon as I was looking at something they let me look and then I politely asked if could try out a guitar or two out and that was satisfying. They told me what the Brand they specialize in and what guitars they sell.
Selling or trading gear at J. Rieck Music
J. Rieck Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
