We had a great experience with James Hood Guitar Repair and our Martin warranty repair. They were recommended by a friend we trusted and he was spot on. It was worth the drive from LA to San Diego to have them do the job.
Ok, so it's been a few years since I brought my 1951 Martin D-28 in to James for a complete restoration. I bought the guitar in quite a state of disrepair, mainly because old D-28's tend to be out of my price range unless they are in pretty bad shape. Mine needed just about everything that a guitar could need.
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with James Hood Guitar. I brought in my prized over-humidified (user induced -duh!) delaminated damaged Martin – 0018 for repair. The bridge was lifting, the action was jacked, and the bindings were coming off.
This was my second time working with JHG and they’ve been nothing but professional, accommodating and honest about what needs to go into my instruments to play at their absolute best. My recent visit was for an ES-335 and LP Custom. Each were in dire need of a setup and neck adjustment.
